Whistler Blackcomb Detailed Description
If you have never experienced Whistler/Blackcomb, then this is the year to ski the # 1 ranked resort in North America. Featured in every major ski magazine, TV shows and many major movies, no other slopes can compare to the size of these towering mountains. Offering the greatest vertical of any ski hill in North America there truly is no comparison. Take your time on the mountain and enjoy the diverse terrain which includes the largest above treeline bowls, best terrain parks and super pipes as well as the longest season of any North American resort, ending with spring skiing conditions in mid June. Whistler is also the only resort in the Canadian Rockies where you can ski or snowboard on a glacier nearly all year-round.
Over the past 40 years Whistler Village has grown to the size of a small city, with 10,000 residents, offering every amenity imaginable. Stroll through the village walkways and enjoy various shops, events and many unique restaurants. The lifts are located nearby making this a hub of activity year round. With such a large population of visitors Whistler supports an unbelievable après ski and nightlife.
Located a short 2 hour drive from Vancouver and the international airport, Whistler attracts a worldwide audience of travellers. For those guests who don’t ski there are many other activities to enjoy. Take a heli-tour of the area and see the mountains from a whole new perspective. Another popular activity is snowshoeing through the scenic alpine terrain.
While the ski season brings many guests to the resort, summer in Whistler is just as much fun. The hill is transformed into a mountain biking and hiking paradise while at the base golfers are eager to get out on the greens. A must try activity is the Whistler Zip Trek Ecotour, which involves a hands free ride on a suspended steel cable more then 80 feet above the ground. The largest span to ride is more the 1,100 feet.
No matter what your age or where your interests lie, Whistler Resort is sure to please.
